ACE Hydraulic Feed Controls

Hydraulic feed controls regulate the speed of a moving axis so it advances smoothly instead of lurching — eliminating the stick-slip chatter pneumatic feeds are prone to during drilling, sawing, and cutting. Piedmont Technical Sales is an authorized ACE Controls distributor stocking the VC, MA, and MVC families. Browse the series below, or search a part number directly if you already know it.

How to choose an ACE hydraulic feed control

How a feed control works. An ACE feed control is a sealed, maintenance-free hydraulic element. As the rod is pushed in, oil is forced through a precision throttle you set from the outside, producing a constant, repeatable feed rate; a rolling diaphragm handles the seal and resets the rod when force is removed. Feed controls regulate speed — they aren't built to absorb hard impacts.

VC vs. MA / MVC. The VC25 series is the precision option — compression force from about 6.7 to 787 lbs, strokes of 0.59 to 4.92 in, as a plain body (F) or M25×1.5 threaded body (FT) for the tightest, most repeatable tuning. The MA and MVC series cover lower-precision needs, from roughly 2 to 800 lbs and 0.28 to 1.58 in stroke, in both UNF and metric threads from M8 to M25.

Where they're used. Handling modules, linear slides and carriages, automatic machinery, and conveyor equipment — anywhere a feed needs to move at a controlled, stick-slip-free rate.

For end-position and bi-directional speed control rather than constant feed, see our hydraulic dampers; for the high-energy initial strike, pair with an industrial shock absorber.
