When a profile damper fits. TUBUS dampers are the economical, long-life answer when you need to absorb energy and protect a machine but don't require deceleration to a precise end point. As solid elastomer with no fluid or moving parts, they shrug off harsh environments — resistant to seawater, chemicals, microbes, UV, and ozone — and last up to 20× longer than urethane, 10× longer than rubber, and 5× longer than steel-spring dampers, with service life reaching a million cycles.
Pick the family by damping curve. TA (axial) is the compact powerhouse, absorbing most of the energy early in a short stroke (58–73% energy absorption), from about 18 to 17,825 in-lbs/cycle. TS (axial soft) gives an almost-linear curve with low reaction force for gentle, low-stress stops. TR (radial) trades height for a long, soft braking action, with TR-H adding a harder compound for higher energy and TR-HD a solid heavy-duty body reaching over 100,000 in-lbs/cycle for impact and collision protection. All mount in minutes with the supplied screw and operate from -40°F to 194°F.
Where they're used. End-position damping on linear axes and slides, tool machines, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, handling modules, swivel units, and conveyor and crane systems — including demanding marine and outdoor settings where the corrosion resistance pays off.
