Speed control vs. impact absorption. A hydraulic damper regulates how fast a motion happens across the whole stroke — unlike a shock absorber, which stops an impact at the end of travel. If your goal is to slow, smooth, or synchronize a continuous movement, a damper is the right tool.
The families. The DVC series is adjustable without free travel and offers independent speed adjusters for the push and pull directions, giving you multi-directional control. HBD-15 to HBD-40 provide fine end-position regulation for finishing centers, machine housings, hoods, and shutters. HB-12 to HB-70 handle linear motion control for conveyor and transport systems, furniture, and locking mechanisms. Across the range, body diameters run 0.47 to 2.75 in and strokes reach 31.5 in, with push/pull forces from about 6.75 to 2,023 lb.
Where they're used. Cylinder speed controls, conveyor and transport systems, hoods and shutters, furniture, and locking systems — anywhere motion needs to be slowed and controlled rather than abruptly stopped.
