Safety vs. production duty. Safety shock absorbers are built for occasional emergency stops, not continuous cycling — that's what makes them a lower-cost safeguard. If a unit will absorb impacts as part of the normal production cycle, use a standard industrial shock absorber instead.
The families. SCS33–SCS64 are based on the MAGNUM range and deliver more than twice its energy per stroke in a compact M33–M64 body (2,744–159,313 in-lbs/cycle). SCS38–SCS63 are high-rack dampers with very long strokes — up to 47 in — for low reaction forces in shelf-storage and rack systems. For crane and heavy-duty work, CB63–CB160 use a gas-pressure accumulator for high resetting forces (energy up to ~4,248,000 in-lbs/cycle), while EB63–EB160 use a spring package for low return force and act as independent braking systems even if power fails.
Where they're used. Gantries, conveyor and crane systems, automated storage and retrieval racks, bridge cranes, and heavy-duty machinery in metals and mining. ACE calculates each unit's orifice pattern to the specific application.
